Seasonal Worker Visa
This visa route is used where the applicant would be required to enter the UK for a specific season. For example, an applicant is working in the UK, but their services are only required for a particular time or season.
This route is used by individuals working in the horticulture sector. This is where the individuals work involves growing certain vegetables and/or plants. If this job matches your current role then this is the route for you to take.
Requirement For Seasonal Worker Visa
As all visa routes, the Home Office have laid out specific requirements in order for an applicant to be eligible. These are as followed:
- The applicant must be working under the Horticulture sector
- The applicant must have a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS)
- The applicant must have funds of at least £1,270 in order to support themselves

When applying for this visa, it is essential that the applicant’s employer has issued a COS for them. The Home Office are very specific about the information that is to be contained within the COS.
The employer is to set out information such as the applicant’s role, the salary, the start date etc. It is very important that the required information is set out in the COS, which is why you should use legal services to ensure that the COS contains all the relevant information.
Can I settle under this route?
Many work visas are usually a route to settlement. However, a seasonal worker visa comes under the bracket of a Temporary worker visa most the routes under this bracket do not lead to settlement.
When applying as a seasonal worker, you can be granted leave to remain for a maximum period of 6 months and this leave cannot be extended.
Can my family join me?
Unlike other work visa’s, this route does not allow an applicant to bring his/her dependant’s to join them in the UK.
The applicant is can enter the UK on their own for a maximum period of 6 months, and will be required to return before the leave expires.
