Representative of an Overseas Business Visa
This visa route would be used by applicants who are employed by an overseas newspaper, news agency or broadcasting organisations. The applicants have been posted for a long period of time and require a visa their period of stay in the UK.
Requirement For Representative of an Overseas Business Visa
The Home Office requires that the applicant meet the necessary requirements before granting the visa:
- The applicant must either be an employee of an overseas newspaper, newspaper, news agency or broadcasting organisation, posted by their employer on a long-term assignment in the UK
- The applicant must have been recruited outside the UK by the business they intend to represent and intend to work full-time as a representative of that overseas business only
- The business’ headquarters must be outside of the UK
- The applicant must at least passed the A1 level English in speaking and listening
- The applicant must have sufficient amount of money to support themselves
Do I have to have a certain amount of income?
Generally, when an applicant applies for visa to enter the UK on a work basis, there is a requirement to have a specific amount of funds. These usually have to be held by them for a certain period of time.
This visa route, however, does not have such a requirement. The applicant should just show that they are able to support themselves, and any dependants, without having to claim public funds.
Can my family join me?
When an applicant applies under this route, they can also apply for their dependants to join them. A separate application will need to be completed for each dependant and where the applications are successful, they will be the same leave as the applicant. A dependent can be:
- A spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner
- Dependent children (under the age of 18)
Can I Settle?
If you have been resident in the UK, for a period of 5 years, you may be eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR). When applying for ILR, the applicant must the relevant knowledge of Life in the UK and the relevant level of English language.
